Grand Canyon Location:

The northwest corner of Arizona in the location of Grand Canyon. Grand Canyon Village is situated 60 miles North of Interstate 40 at Williams via main road 64, and 80 miles Northwest of Flagstaff via Highway 180. Just ten miles from rim to rim straight from one point to the other, the North Rim is 215 miles (around 4 1/2 hours) from the South Rim via vehicle. Please watch for animal and drive cautiously. Please note that gas is just accessible within the park occasionally at Desert View. Gas is accessible all year, only outside of the park toward the south in Tusayan. Parking close to the canyon’s rim, including parking for El Tovar Hotel, Kachina Lodge, Thunderbird Lodge, and Bright Angel Lodge, can be constrained. Grand Canyon bright angel trail:

Hiking Grand Canyon’s Bright Angel Trail
Difficulty: Laborious
Distance: 15.6 miles, round-trip
Hiking Time: 2–3 Days
Elevation Change: 4,285 feet

The Bright Angel Trail is the most popular trail on the South Rim and with good cause. Opening near several popular hotels, it provides convenient access below the rim, offering amazing views of the Inner Canyon. Not but what steep and challenging, it’s well-maintained and makes a terrific introduction to Inner Canyon hiking. Day hikers should reck of 1.5 Mile Resthouse (2–4 hours, round-trip) or 3 Mile Resthouse (4–6 hours, round-trip). Both offer pure drinking water in the summer months.

Halfway down the trail is Indian Garden campsite, and a nearby spur trail heads 1.5 miles to Plateau Point, one of the finest Inner Canyon outlook in the park.

Weather:

The South Rim is 7,000 feet above sea level, which means frost in winter and cool nights even in summer. However, when hiking at Grand Canyon, you’ll experience thermal temperatures in the summer along the Colorado River as a degree can reach 120 ºF / 47 ºC. Weather is particularly changeable in spring and fall; visitors should be prepared for a difference of climates.

Summer (June – August):

Temperatures often exceed 100 ºF (38 ºC) at the bottom of the canyon.

Winter (December – February)

From the snow at the South Rim to the more-temperate Ghost Ranch, a winter trip in the canyon is an unbelievable experience. Average degree on the rim ranges from a low of 20 ºF to a high of 43 ºF. Average temperatures at Ghost Ranch range from a low of 38 ºF to a high of 58 ºF.

Spring (March-May) & Fall (September – November):

Average degree at the South Rim ranges from a low of 34 ºF to a high of 62 ºF. Average temperatures at Ghost Ranch range from a low of 55 ºF to a high of 82 ºF.
